Boutique shopping is for sure a favorite of mine…I dare say. I’m pretty sure I love all types of shopping (sans grocery because come on… that’s not as fun unless you get to go childless of course) but small business browsing with unique items tops the list. I like the feeling that not everyone will have a certain purchase and of course supporting the community is always a plus.
Once and a while, you may find a boutique shop that is around for a long time and you may notice yourself returning to that town just to visit that special place. Or, when you are out perusing other stores you discover a gem that you simply cannot live without. These places tend to be smaller spaces that definitely feel bathed in love. They are intimate storefronts that are usually labors of sacrifice, ideas and dreams that have finally materialized. The owners are usually extremely helpful and dedicated and it shows.
My insides turn a bit gooey lazily looking around and finding cute, kitschy items or distinct focal points. I find that I get the most compliments on my purchases from boutique shops. They honestly inspire me and hold a special place in my shopping world. Safe to say I hope all of these shops stay around for a long time.
On a long weekend getaway, I returned to a favorite boutique shop of mine. I have been to it countless times, and have never been let down. I feel like I need to share this in the kellymaclilac community so that you all can experience the same excitement as me and perhaps if you’re in the area to go take a look! It is called H. & M. Crumpets’ and it’s located at 248 Main Street in Ogunquit, ME. It’s packed full of lotions, bath gels, soaps, salts, unique pet items and men’s shaving/skin care items. There’s also usually a section for relaxation products AND it is linked to a candy store. I mean come on!!! Genius people came up with this! If you get to go, ask if they have any grab bags. They sometimes fill paper bags with surprise items at a steal!
