  • 15 and 30 in a purple and white book over the Twilight book

Again, the 30th rolls around way too quickly.  However, I must admit I have been waiting for this one. That’s because it’s book review day AND October.  So, it’s only fitting (well to me at least) to recommend the first book in a series that is easily one of my favorites and my biggest guilty pleasure.

Years ago, I picked up this book with the thought of “why is this so popular” spinning around in my head.  As usual, I wanted a good read to escape. So I bought the book and hunkered down under my ultra-fuzzy blanket and gave it a whirl.

Result?  Mass obsession.  Being way behind the curve; the other books in the series were already out in print and therefore I was able to quickly read the sequels. I read until 2 am some nights.  I came home and snuck in a few chapters and skipped TV to read these! Then, I went to the movies to see the movie about it.  You guys, I never have done this.  Besides my Pride and Prejudice fan-girl I did not have “another” fan-girl within me!

Enter Twilight now. After reading that, I bet you’re either squealing in delight or heavily sighing.  Honestly, I do not care because I am that far in.  I don’t even like vampires in particular (in this series there are vampires and werewolves just in case you have been living in a cave for the last 10 years).  I just love the love story.  The mystery of it all, the shy girl gets the sought-after guy. It’s a tale as old as time with a twist in the modern age of our society. Of course, I am not the only one; but a good book (at least a good book to you) makes it feel like the story is yours.  I do not care if the writing isn’t great, and the movie version has bad makeup and odd oxygen tube placing.  I do not care that I am among the millions of fans who have picked “a side” (duh Team Edward).  Twilight is fun and for sure helped me though a rough patch. I have read the series multiple times- and in this fall weather I am sure Ill read it again!

October 30th Book Suggestion

So in the spirit of Halloween, my 30 day pick is…

Title: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Category: Paranormal Ultra Love Story

Even though this is a YA book, I have so many friends, co-workers and even family members of all ages that have swooned over this story (and series).  Again, sometimes it’s just fun to have fun right? Thank me later.
